Engagement

A flexible business proposition

The right commercial structure depends on how well-defined the work is. We would rather put you in the model that fits than the one that bills best.

Models

Ways to work with us

Programmes often move between these. Exploration under time and material, then a fixed-cost build once the specification firms up, is a common and sensible progression.

T&M

Time and material

Pay for use

Engineering billed against time actually spent. Suits work where the scope will genuinely evolve — early exploration, integration with an unknown third-party module, or a programme whose requirements are still moving.

Best fit when

  • Scope is expected to change
  • You want to steer priorities week to week
  • Exploratory or R&D phases
FIXED

Fixed cost projects

Delivery on cost

A defined deliverable at an agreed price. Requires a specification solid enough to estimate against, and we will tell you honestly when yours is not there yet rather than pricing in the risk quietly.

Best fit when

  • Requirements are settled
  • Budget approval needs a firm number
  • Clear acceptance criteria exist
ODC

Offsite development centre

Dedicated experts team

A named team working exclusively on your programme from our facility, operating as an extension of your organisation. Continuity of people, and institutional knowledge that accumulates rather than resetting each project.

Best fit when

  • Ongoing multi-project relationship
  • Domain knowledge is worth retaining
  • You want capacity, not a statement of work

How we scope

What happens before a number is quoted

No proposal is worth much without this step, and we do not charge for it.

  1. 01

You send whatever exists — a specification, a block diagram, a competitor teardown, or a paragraph describing the problem.

  2. 02

We come back with questions. Usually the ones that expose whether the requirement is actually settled.

  3. 03

You receive an assessment of scope, technical risk and the fastest credible route to a working prototype.

  4. 04

We recommend an engagement model and price it. If fixed cost is not appropriate yet, we say so.

Not sure which model fits?

Describe the programme and we will tell you which structure we would propose, and why.
